Tsitsernakaberd Memorial complex commemorates the 1.5 million victims of the Armenian Genocide. First opened in 1995, the site draws scores of families and tourists to remember and honor those who perished in 19150. A striking 44 m (144 ft) stela dominates the forest-covered compound, symbolizing the rebirth of the nation. From the terrace, you can also see snow-capped Mount Ararat in the distance.
