Tsrvizi Monastery or Moro Dzoro Monastery

The Moro Dzoro monastery is located on the right bank of the southwestern gorge of Lusahovit village, Ijevan community, Tavush region, surrounded by centuries-old huge walnut trees. The name of the monastery Moro Dzoro Surb Astvastatsin comes from the inscriptions carved on its walls. About 1 km from the monastery there is a field covered with mulberry bushes, and it is believed that in the past there were also mulberry bushes near the monastery, from which the monastery got its name. According to the inscriptions on the walls of the monastery, it was built in the 7th-8th centuries and was destroyed during the Arab rule, and only later, in the middle of the 12th century, it was thoroughly repaired by the Artsrunis and Zakarians and was one of the ancient and prominent spiritual centers.
