Currently, the October Cinema is the main cinema in Gyumri. In addition to the current cinema, there were other cinemas in Gyumri, such as Armenia, Yerevan and Shirak.
Attending a movie in Gyumri was a big ceremony. When going to the movies, people prepare for a long time, dress luxuriously, and mostly go with the whole family. October was the first cinema in the city to open in 1926 (architect J. Sargsyan). The building was built in the style of Russian classicism.
