Description

Mount Ukhtasar is located in the Syunik region of Armenia. The name "Ukhtasar" is translated as "camel mountain", and the mountain got it because of its shape, resembling a camel's hump. Rocky surfaces on the slopes of Mount Ukhtasar abound with ancient rock paintings of great historical value. At the foot of Mount Ukhtasar, you can see many ancient tombstones, decorated with images and petroglyphs. Images of people and animals allow you to get an idea of the way of life, customs, victories, beliefs of primitive people who once lived in these places. The most ancient of the rock paintings of Ukhtasar, scientists attribute to the V-IV millennium BC, there are practically no images of birds among the drawings. But here you can see a lot of amazing symbols that some scientists associate with the cosmos, as well as the first, primitive calendars. On the territory of Ukhtasar there is a glacial lake, which was formed on the site of the volcano crater. Due to the height of the ridge, pieces of ice always float in the lake, and the snow near it practically does not melt all year round.
