In the eastern part of the Syunik region, 10 kilometers southwest of the city of Kapan, there is Mount Khustup, 3201 m high. The mountain is distinguished by its grandeur and unique beauty, from its top a stunning and incomparable beauty view of the stretching Syunik opens up. The mountain is rich in alpine meadows, part of it is covered with forests. Mount Khustup is considered sacred, it was a special place of pilgrimage in ancient times. The mountain was also of strategic importance in the 1920s. The relics of Garegin Nzhdeh, one of the most revered heroes of Armenia, rest here.
