Description

Aragats is the highest mountain in Armenia, which has four peaks (northern, southern, eastern and western), the highest peak is at an altitude of 4095 m above sea level.


Mount Aragats is a layered volcano, the last time it erupted in the middle and late Pleistocene. Springs, rainwater, melted snow form many mountain rivers that originate on the slopes. Recently, Aragats has become an increasingly popular hiking destination for adventure lovers.
If you want to make a relatively easy climb, choose the South Peak, which is located at an altitude of 3900 meters.
Climbing the mountain starts from Lake Kari, located at an altitude of 3200 meters. The easiest way to get to the lake is by car.

You can also combine climbing Aragats with a visit to several other attractions, such as Amberd Fortress or Byurakan Observatory.

Western peak - 3995.3 m, Hike length: 12km, Elevation: 800m

 

Eastern peak - 3908.2 m,

 

South peak - 3887.8 m., Hike length: 10 km, Elevation: 700 m
