Description

Zorats Karer (“mighty stones”) or Karahunj is an ancient megalithic complex, which is an analogue of the world famous Stonehenge. Scientists believe that Karahunj was established much earlier, although the exact age of the monument has not yet been clarified. The proportions of this ruined structure exactly correspond to the proportions of the famous pagan temple of Garni. In some stones, you can see round through holes. According to one version, Karahunj was an ancient observatory, and the holes helped to follow the celestial bodies and make calculations of their path. The mysterious ancient monument is of interest not only for scientists, but also for tourists.
