The monastic complex of Saghmosavank is located in the Armenian region of Aragatsotn, on the outskirts of the village of Saghmosavan. The monastery buildings rise above a steep gorge, not far from the Kasakh River. The oldest building in the complex is the Church of Sion (Holy Sion), built in 1215. Later, the Church of Surb Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God), a book depository and a vestibule appeared. To the north of Saghmosavan there is an ancient cemetery where you can see many carved khachkars of the 13th-14th centuries.
